Ashley Rhame is a native and local creative of Roanoke, Virginia who began writing poetry at the age of 21. Ashley is currently serving her community as Librarian Assistant at her local Melrose Branch Library. As well, Ashley is current Program Director at Girl Rock Roanoke’s After School Program at Hurt Park Elementary. Ashley also colobartes with co-founder Xavier Duckett in the production of Roanoke’s Speakeasy on 11th Street; a platform for creative expression and entertainment in Roanoke's NW neighborhood. She has self-published two books, Soul Cry , God’s Eye, and Chasing Sun. Her work has been featured in the Artemis Journal alongside poets like Nikki Giovanni in the Appalachian area. Ashley has also lead workshops at Hollins University, Girls Rock Roanoke, Soul Sessions Roanoke, Roanoke City Libraries, The Hope Center. When she is not writing poetry, she enjoys photography, reading, sipping tea, and indulging in sweets.
